Uhh. Have my Irateshipping tag. There’s a lot of headcanon-y stuff in there. BUT TL;DR AWKWARD BRO BONDING AND BEATING EACH OTHER UP and both of them having kind of questionable histories, so Malik can’t really put Jyounouchi on a pedestal. And because Rishid and Jyounouchi get along like awesome, so clearly, Malik needs to spend time with him. And Jyou’s a True Duelist, so Malik can redeem himself as a duelist without losing every single time against Yuugi. And then Malik has an excuse to bond with Honda over motorcycles. And can learn to be a semi-normal teenager. And ahhhh. /explodes
Plus I’m really partial to the idea of Malik not knowing what to do with himself and awkwardly learning how to be “one of the guys” and there’re no better guys to learn that from than Honda and Jyounouchi.
